No. 7 Subway Extension Could Open in February
New York City’s decades-in-the-making No. 7 subway extension to the far West Side could be open to riders in February.
The MTA and the general contractor have signed a pact that includes up to $4.75 million in incentive payments if the project is finished by Feb. 24. A new station at 34th Street and 11th Avenue, Michael Horodniceanu, the MTA’s capital construction division president, told the Daily News, will be very airy and modern. He said riders will be impressed.
The $2.4 billion project had originally been scheduled to open last December. The opening has been delayed since several more times.
