A 25-year-old rookie New York police officer was killed and eight others hurt Sunday when the van they were in crashed into a concrete barrier.
Officer Michael Williams was ejected from the right rear passenger seat window when the police van struck a barrier. The other officers were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officers from the 47th precinct in the Bronx were headed to Manhattan on the Bruckner Expressway when the van crashed around 5 a.m.
