Rep. Grace Meng was honored on Thursday for sponsoring a bill making the desecration of cemeteries a violation of religious freedom.
The Queens Democrat received the Cultural Heritage Preservation Award from the United States Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad. The agency said that the law will help them preserve cemeteries, monuments, and historic buildings in the former Soviet Union.
