Tesla on the Move in California and China

(Los Angeles Times/MCT ) —

Tesla Motors is expanding its presence in Southern California and in China.

The company opened a new “store” Friday in Pasadena, increasing its SoCal footprint.

The Pasadena retail outlet for the Palo Alto-based electric-car company joins other area locations.

Tesla also confirmed Friday that it will build 400 new charging points in 120 cities in China and 20 new supercharging points in 20 cities.

All the charging points will be free to customers, Tesla said.

Sales of the electric vehicles have begun recently in China, where Tesla will be partnering with China Unicom to build the new charging stations.

Tesla said it had already opened more than 200 charging points across China.
