Deadline To Register for NY Vote Is Friday

NEW YORK (Hamodia Staff) —

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming fall elections is this Friday. Whoever is not registered cannot vote in the statewide primaries, which include a race for governor, state Senate and Assembly.

The Board of Elections closes new voter registration 25 days prior to an election. The primary election is on Sept. 9, which means any residents who wish to register must do so by Aug. 15. The general election is on Nov. 4; the last day to register is Oct. 10.

“Voting is the single most important action you can take to ensure your government is held responsible to you,” noted Councilman David Greenfield.

Voter forms may be downloaded from the Board of Elections website, or by calling the phone bank at 1-866-VOTE-NYC to request that a postage-paid registration form be sent in the mail.

Greenfield said his office will also have forms on hand for the community.
