Civil War-Era Cannonballs Detonated in Quarry
About 180 Civil War-era cannonballs found on the grounds of the nation’s oldest arsenal were detonated Tuesday in a quarry north of Albany since they may have had some black powder residue inside, The Associated Press reported. The cannonballs were discovered during construction projects over the years and stored in a museum which closed last fall.
