Memorial Some Found Depressing Removed
A street sign memorializing a nun killed in a hit-and-run was removed after a monthslong standoff with Hamptons residents who called it depressing, Newsday reported. The sign named Rose Hill Road for Jacqueline Walsh, 59, who died as she walked along the road in July 2012. Neighbors said it was “a painful reminder of a dreadful crime,” and the lack of an arrest.
