IAF Assault Helicopters Ready For Ground Offensive
The pilots of the IAF assault helicopters, “Desert Birds,” are not waiting for a decision to start a ground offensive in Gaza, and it’s already engaged in joint maneuvers with ground forces in a simulated invasion.
“We are training in order that everyone will know his task and be able to complete it with optimal efficiency in the enemy’s terroritory,” a spokesman said.
The helicopter unit has already played a valuable role in Operation Protective Edge, evacuating a soldier wounded by a mortar shell, and other rescue efforts.
Not only pilots, but engineering and technical units are also preparing for a possible ground operation, and most of the aircraft are already fully operational.
