Plaque Marks Niagara Falls Walk

Visitors to Niagara Falls can now get an up-close look at part of the wire daredevil Nik Wallenda walked on over Niagara Falls.

A section of the cable is part of a monument unveiled Monday to commemorate Wallenda’s historic 2012 walk across the Niagara Gorge.

The wire, along with a plaque, is affixed to a boulder from the gorge that now sits on Goat Island in Niagara Falls State Park. The site is near where Wallenda stepped off to become the first person to walk a high-wire directly over the falls.

Wallenda was there as the wraps were taken off. He called the moment surreal.
