Brizzi Park Closed During Summer for Renovation

BROOKLYN (Hamodia Staff) —

Brizzi Playground, located between 10th Avenue, New Utrecht Avenue, 43rd Street and 42nd Street, will be closed starting next week for its first renovations in 20 years, the New York City Parks Department announced on Monday.

Councilmen Brad Lander and Carlos Menchaca have put forward a combined $1 million in funding for the removal of an old bocce court and conversion of that space into a turf play area for youth, as well as the addition of a new piece of play equipment and safety matting. The Parks Department will also add new landscaping and planted areas to more clearly define play areas for older and younger children.

“The closure of the playground during the summer months will no doubt be an inconvenience for the neighborhood,” Lander and Menchaca said in a statement, “but soon children from Boro Park and beyond will have a safer, cleaner place to play.”
