NY Village Bans Big Driveways
Mineola, in Long Island, passed an ordinance limiting the size and shape of paved front driveways to more than 25 percent of a front yard in the interest of preserving its suburban charm, WCBS reported. It doesn’t apply to existing driveways or those on the side or back of a house. Village officials say the unanimous vote comes as an increasing number of residents have tried to replace grass with paved and circular drives.
