WWII Plane Returns to New York From Normandy
A restored World War II transport plane that dropped U.S. paratroopers on Normandy 70 years ago has returned home to its western New York airfield after taking part in a D-Day anniversary re-enactment in northern France last week, The Associated Press reported. Hundreds of people turned out Saturday to give Whiskey 7 a hero’s welcome. It is believed to be one of the last C-47s still flying that actually participated in the D-Day invasion.
