Liberty Township Bill to Ban Parking Near Shul

LIBERTY, N.Y.

A proposed bill to prohibit parking in front of the Swan Lake shul and a popular pizza shop in Liberty Township is getting a hearing on Monday.

The law will ban drivers from parking their vehicles “on areas of Stanton Corners Road, RT 55 and the Old White Lake Turnpike in the hamlet of Swan Lake,” according to a release sent on Thursday by the township.

The first address is in front of the historic Bikur Cholim B’nai Israel Synagogue, popularly known as the Swan Lake shul, and the second abuts the Swan Lake Pizza and Dairy Restaurant.

“We are proposing this local law since parking in the hamlet has been identified as a safety problem,” said the township in the notice. “We look forward to your comments and suggestions.”

The memo added that comments can be mailed to the town clerk, Laurie Dutcher, at 120 North Main St., Liberty, N.Y. 12754 or email at l.dutcher@townofliberty.org.
