UPS to Open Center for Jet-Engine Maker in New Hampshire

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) —

Jet-engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney has announced that United Parcel Service Inc. will open a 600,000-square-foot distribution center in New Hampshire.

The East Hartford, Connecticut-based company said Tuesday that the UPS facility will receive parts and store and build manufacturing and assembly kits and manage inventory and provide freight transportation.

Pratt & Whitney said it will take advantage of UPS’s ability to monitor and track products across the jet-engine maker’s supply chain.

The Londonderry, New Hampshire, facility is set to open in June 2015.

UPS began providing services to Pratt & Whitney 10 years ago. The companies have expanded the work to include handling of small packages and international air and ground freight.

Other logistics centers operate in Atlanta; West Palm Beach, Florida; Dallas; and the Netherlands.
