New York Vet Gets 8 Medals Earned in WWII
A World War II veteran from upstate New York received eight U.S. military medals 70 years after he was wounded during a fierce battle in the Pacific. Ernest Love was presented with the Silver Star, a Purple Heart and six other decorations Tuesday. Love was credited with killing more than a dozen enemy soldiers during the battle of Saipan in 1944.
