Suit against Speaker Over Settlement Dismissed

ALBANY -

A judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit from an upstate activist who claimed Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver misused taxpayer money to settle a suit against former Assemblyman Vito Lopez, The Associated Press reported. Robert Schulz accused Silver of secretly paying $103,000, but Judge Kimberly O’Connor concluded Schulz didn’t have standing to sue and that Silver was within his bounds.
