Bais Yaakov of Toronto Experiences Brief Lockdown

Bais Yaakov of Toronto experienced a brief scare this morning, as a man in the area threatened to shoot himself. Local police ordered all schools in the neighborhood to lock down, and have all students remain indoors, as a precautionary measure, lest bullets start flying.

At Bais Yaakov, all students were told to go to the nearest classroom, where they remained with closed doors, under the supervision of a teacher. They were told to sit on the floor, away from the windows.

B’chasdei Hashem, the assailant was taken into custody after about 45 minutes. The lockdown was removed,  the school tried to resume its normal schedule, and the whole affair appeared to be not much more than a scare.

“Some of the girls seemed nervous, but most were just saying Tehillim, and some started singing,” reported a secretary. “Baruch Hashem, the whole thing only lasted 45 minutes, and now we are getting back to our routine.”
