NY Senate OKs Alcohol Tests After Bad Car Crashes

ALBANY (AP) —

State senators in New York have voted to require blood-alcohol tests of all drivers following serious accidents.

The Senate passed the legislation on Monday. It would mandate that police test the alcohol levels of all drivers following accidents in which someone is seriously injured or killed.

The bill’s sponsor, Republican Sen. Joseph Robach of Rochester, says it would make it easier to bring intoxicated drivers to justice.

The bill now moves to the Assembly.
