Sirens Wail on Memorial Day

YERUSHALAYIM (AP) —

Israel began marking its annual Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism on Sunday night.

Sirens wailed across Israel at 8:00 p.m. for a minute of silence to honor and remember the dead.

Israel says 23,169 security personnel have been killed since 1860.

Another siren will sound Monday at 11:00 a.m.

Independence Day begins Monday evening.
