Handwritten Notes to Get Mekushar Discovered
Publication of a new edition of Get Mekushar to mark the yahrtzeit of the Maharal Tzintz on Shabbos Emor has been postponed after the discovery of rare annotations to the work in the author’s own hand.
The decision was made on the eve of publication after the discovery was brought to the attention of the publishers in Ashdod. They now plan to incorporate the previously unknown material in the new edition.
Get Mekushar, which deals with the laws of Gittin and Kiddushin, was first published during the Maharal Tzintz’s lifetime. In his preface, the author praises the generosity of those who helped to bring it to print and promised blessings for those who in the future would continue to publish his works.
