NY Looks for Citizens to Help Assess Water Quality

ALBANY

New York environmental officials are looking for citizen scientists to help them assess the water quality of Lake Ontario and the Niagara, Genesee, Delaware, Hudson and Mohawk river watersheds. Data from the Water Assessments by Volunteer Evaluators — or WAVE — project augments the work of state scientists creating an inventory of water quality. Volunteer monitors visit stream sites once a year in the warmer months to collect samples. Training sessions are being held in May and June.
