Court: 1993 LIRR Murderer Attempted Prison Riot
The gunman who killed six and wounded 19 people on the Long Island Rail Road two decades ago tried to incite a deadly riot at an upstate prison, a state court concluded Thursday. The four Appellate Division justices upheld prison disciplinary charges against Colin Ferguson for threatening violence and conspiring to riot. Ferguson, who on Dec. 7, 1993, fired methodically over several minutes on the LIRR before he was tackled by passengers, is not eligible for parole for another 295 years.
