NY State Teachers Union Ousts President

NEW YORK -

The New York state teachers union on Sunday elected its first female president, ousting its incumbent for the first time in its 42-year history, Capitol New York reported. Karen Magee, an elementary and special ed teacher, replaces as head of the 600,000-member union Richard Iannuzzi for a three-year term. Delegates said that Iannuzzi was not aggressive enough against Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Common Core.
