NEW YORK (AP) -

Police on Monday arrested a teenager on suspicion of starting a fire in Coney Island Sunday that critically injured two police officers.

Marcell Dockery, 16, was arrested Monday on charges of assault, arson and reckless endangerment. Authorities say Dockery lives in the building and set fire to a mattress discarded in a hallway.

The officers were overcome by carbon monoxide and smoke Sunday afternoon and remain in critical condition. They were found unconscious in a hallway on the 13th floor of an apartment building.

Thirty-six-year-old Rosa Rodriguez is in Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, and 38-year-old Dennis Guerra was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
