Summer Youth Corps Closing Days After Pesach
With the popular Youth Corps program for youth employment closing just days after Pesach, Councilman Chaim Deutsch urges parents who have young adults without summer plans to apply as soon as possible.
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides young people who live in New York City with paid summer employment during July and August. Deutsch, a Midwood Democrat, called it “an incredible opportunity for anyone 14 to 24 years old to build upon their skills and obtain a meaningful work experience.”
Currently, applicants are chosen through a lottery system. Deutsch said he is working with city officials to make this valuable program available to everyone who is eligible. Any New York City resident aged 14–24 may apply for this program online at nyc.gov/dycd or at a community organization. The application period is open until Friday, April 25, three days after Pesach ends.
