West Side COJO Kimcha D’Pischa
For most families Pesach is a most wonderful Yom Tov, but for people struggling with financial pressures, the chag can be a very difficult time.
The Committee for Food for Needy Families, led by renowned philanthropist Sam Domb and including Murray Huberfeld, Michael Landau, Andrew Penson, Jona Rechnitz, Shea Schwebel and Carey Wolchok, among others, is coordinating a special fund to ensure that all community members will have enough to provide kosher meals for their families.
All of the West Side of Manhattan’s community rabbis have been approached to identify any congregants who need help. This initiative is being coordinated by the West Side COJO.
Mr. Domb hopes that this West Side initiative will encourage other neighborhoods to ensure that their people are taken care of for Pesach. More than $50,000 has been raised so far, but the needs of the Jewish community, unfortunately, are extensive. Tax- deductible checks can be made out to West Side COJO, #5A, 450 West End Avenue, New York, NY 10024.
