Police Disperse Crowd Outside Sneaker Store

A large crowd that gathered overnight outside a SoHo store for the release of a pricey new sneaker had to be dispersed by police when it spilled into the street.

About 300 teens lined up in front of the Supreme New York on Lafayette Street around 5 p.m. Wednesday to buy the $250 Supreme/Nike Air Foamposite that was to go on sale Thursday. By 8 p.m., the crowd had nearly doubled. Police say they dispersed the crowd due to safety concerns.
