NY Wire Fraud Scheme Ends in Prison for Canadian

ALBANY

A Quebec man was sentenced to 30 months in prison and fined $10,000 for a telemarketing scheme targeting the elderly, The Associated Press reported. The perpetrator repeatedly called two New Yorkers, aged 95 and 86, telling them to wire tens of thousands of dollars to help get their grandchild out of a Mexican jail. One of the victims wired him $42,000.
