Hamas Sends Threatening Message

YERUSHALAYIM (Hamodia Staff) -

Hundreds of Israeli military and civilian officials and journalists have received threatening messages signed by Hamas on their computers and mobile phones.

“Al-qassam has chosen you to be The next Shalite (sic)…Be Ready,” one message read, referring to Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier who was held captive by Hamas for five years.

Among the recipients was Hamodia’s military correspondent A. Pe’er. Correspondents for The Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, New York Times and AFP also heard from Hamas military arm, Al-qassam.

The Foreign Press Association condemned the messages, writing: “This is unacceptable. Journalists are not part of the Middle East conflict. They are observers who should be treated as such. The FPA calls on the Hamas government to take steps to guarantee this never happens again.”

One of the messages from Hamas was received by hundreds of Israelis and foreign journalists.
