River Ice Delays Repairs for Albany’s WWII Ship

ALBANY -

Ice on the Hudson River is delaying repair work scheduled for an Albany-based World War II ship that’s the last of its kind afloat in the U.S., the Albany Times Union reported. The destroyer escort USS Slater was supposed to head for Staten Island for extensive repair work. But thick ice downriver kept the 70-year-old floating museum in its upstate port at least until early next week.
