Kerry: Netanyahu’s Bottom-Line Demand a “Mistake”
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s dismissal of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s insistence that the Palestinians recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people has drawn the ire of some Israeli officials, The Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday.
Late last week, Kerry told members of Congress that Netanyahu is making “a mistake” to condition a peace agreement on such recognition, arguing that international law already defines Israel as a Jewish state.
Communications Minister Gilad Erdan told Israel Radio that Kerry had erred in making the statements and said they put pressure on the wrong side.
