Former Candidate Sues for Denying Matching Funds
Former City Comptroller John Liu on Wednesday said he filed a federal lawsuit against the Campaign Finance Board for denying his campaign matching funds last year, which he termed an “effective death sentence” to his Democratic campaign. A former donor and aide were convicted of campaign finance fraud but Liu was never charged. He got 7 percent of the vote.
