NY Democratic Official Blasts Independence Party

MINEOLA, N.Y. -

Former state Democratic chairman Jay Jacobs on Tuesday urged major party candidates for governor to reject an endorsement from the Independence Party, claiming it stands for nothing, supports virtually no political activity and exists for the financial benefit of the leadership, The Associated Press reported. Jacobs cited records claiming that more than 80 percent of the $183,577 the Nassau Independence Party spent the past two years went to a catering facility.
