Burglars Leave Clear Snow Footprints to Home

MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. (AP) —

Two burglars who robbed a Long Island home Monday led police directly back to their own house with a clear set of snow footprints.

Nassau police found a door ajar at the Park Stationery & Smoke Shop in Massapequa Park and fresh footprints in the snow leading away from the store. They followed the tracks straight to the front lawn of a house some distance away, where they observed two men leaving the premises.

The duo, twins John and Eugene Wallace, were questioned and found to be in possession of stolen scratch-off lottery tickets. A subsequent investigation revealed they were responsible for four other burglaries in Nassau.

They now face five counts of burglary and criminal mischief.
