Atzeres Tefillah to be Held Thursday in Antwerp

Thousands of chareidi residents of Antwerp, Belgium will gather Thursday, Yom Kippur Kattan mukdam, for Rosh Chodesh Adar II, for an atzeres tefillah over the anti-religious decrees in Eretz Yisrael. The atzeres was announced after Gedolei Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael called for rallies to be held in Eretz Yisrael and around the world. This atzeres will take place before the large ones in Eretz Yisrael, America and England on Sunday, and will be headed by the leaders of the community in Antwerp. It will take place in the large shul in the city; the tefillos of Yom Kippur Kattan will be recited, along with Tehillim. The Mara d’Asra, Harav Aharon Schiff, will deliver a drashah expressing the concern of Diaspora Jewry over what is happening in Eretz Yisrael.

The atzeres is expected to be attended by all the communities in Belgium: Litvish, Chassidic, Ashkenazi and Sephardic. While the whole community is concerned over the situation, many have children and grandchildren living in Eretz Yisrael who are directly affected by the new laws.

They are also concerned that if such anti-religious laws can be passed in Eretz Yisrael, then foreign countries can do so as well, and claim that it is not anti-Semitism.
