Long Island Power Gets $1.4B Upgrade
Long Island’s electrical system is getting $1.4 billion in federally-paid repairs and upgrades in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday. The work will include raising substations to avoid flooding, improving the switching system to minimize outages and burying some power lines.
