NJ to Get Much-Needed Salt Shipment for Roads

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -

A much-awaited shipment of road salt arrived in New Jersey from Chile on Thursday, with another one due next week, The Star-Ledger reported. A 40,000-ton load of salt sitting in Maine has been held up by a federal law that prohibits international vessels from transporting cargo from one U.S. port to another. The state currently has enough salt to cover only one more storm.
