AG Bill to Help Wrongfully Convicted Get Restitution
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Wednesday proposed a bill to help those wrongfully convicted file claims against the state, The Associated Press reported. The Unjust Imprisonment Act would strip away restrictions that block lawsuits by people seeking financial damages after being coerced into false confessions or exonerated by DNA evidence.
