State Sen. Sampson Facing New Charges He Lied to FBI

ALBANY -

Federal prosecutors added a new charge Monday to the embezzlement indictment against a once-powerful New York state senator, The Associated Press reported. Sen. John Sampson is accused in a case of a liquor store where he had a secret ownership stake. The former Senate majority leader was recorded asking a staffer to intervene with state officials to arrange past due sales taxes and reduce the amount owed. He’s now accused of lying to the FBI when he denied making the request.
