Iron Dome Shoots Down Sinai Rocket
Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system on Friday shot down a rocket fired in the direction of Eilat from terrorists in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.
A Sinai-based terrorist group inspired by al-Qaida, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, claimed responsibility for the attack.
“Jews, know that nothing will stop us fighting you,” Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis said in a statement published on the internet.
Eilat has several times come under rocket fire from Sinai, although a new fortified fence along the frontier and periodic Egyptian security crackdowns have kept the terrorists largely in check.
