De Blasio Meets Feisty Staten Island Chuck

NEW YORK

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday had a run-in with a disgruntled New Yorker who couldn’t wait to get away from him — weather-predicting groundhog Staten Island Chuck, The Associated Press reported. It was de Blasio’s first Groundhog Day ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo. When he tried to hold Chuck, the rodent scrambled out of his arms and made the leap to the ground below, where he was quickly picked up by a handler. Chuck predicted six more weeks of winter, as did Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania.
