NY Employers Report 146,000 Workplace Injuries
New York private industry employers reported about 146,000 nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in 2012, about 2.5 cases per 100 full-time workers, the Department of Labor announced. New York was one of eight states to register a significant decrease over the year. Among public sector workers, about 69,000 injury and illness cases were reported in 2012, or 7 cases per 100 full-time workers. Almost 78 percent of injuries and illnesses in the public sector occurred among local government workers.
