Schumer: Farm Bill Will Help NY Maple Producers
The massive farm bill that passed Congress this week includes a measure that will help New York’s maple syrup producers, Sen. Chuck Schumer said. The bill provides yearly grants of up to $20 million to states that encourage landowners to open up their trees to maple tapping. There are more than 280 million maple trees in New York, but less than 1 percent of them are tapped.
