Man Charged With Aiming Laser at Helicopter
A man who aimed a laser beam at a police helicopter during a fireworks display was charged Thursday with violating a new federal law against targeting aircraft with lasers, The Associated Press reported. Prosecutors said that Philip Putter endangered at least 10,000 people watching below. A Westchester police helicopter radioed July 3 that they were hit in the eyes by a laser beam. Officers followed the beam down to Putter.
