Van Used in Stark Murder Found

BROOKLYN

According to police sources, the van used in the abduction and eventual murder of Reb Menachem Stark, Hy”d, was found in Brownsville, Brooklyn, the Daily News reported Wednesday.

The 2002 Dodge Caravan with Pennsylvania plates used in the Jan. 2 kidnapping was discovered by police in the east Brooklyn neighborhood, 18 miles from Great Neck where the body was found and five miles from Williamsburg, where Mr. Stark was spirited away late on a snowy night.

Detectives who spotted the white minivan seized the vehicle as a man got in and tried to drive off. The driver was questioned but later released.

According to the news report, police investigators believe Mr. Stark was abducted without the intention of killing him. A cellphone found attached to the undercarriage of Mr. Stark’s car has been linked to the same person who might be responsible for the abduction, police said.

The family and activists close to the case were called to the police station for an update on the investigation Wednesday afternoon, and amid ongoing rumors of possible arrests in the case, police said they will not be releasing more information to the public Wednesday night.
