Upstate NY Agency Says it Recorded -61 Wind Chill
A weather gauge near Finger Lakes recorded a wind chill of minus-61, the Star-Gazette of Elmira reported. Steuben County said the reading at 5 a.m. Tuesday came as the temperature was minus-18, with wind gusts of 55 mph. The National Weather Service said it was “very unlikely” the measurement was accurate; their lowest wind chill for the area at the time was minus-35.
