In an ironic turn of events, the GOP candidate who was defeated by Mayor Bill de Blasio was appointed chief of staff at New York University’s Langone Medical Center, replacing Anthony Shorris, who left to serve as a deputy mayor for de Blasio, a Democrat. Lhota will serve as senior vice president, vice dean and chief of staff.
