Two tenth graders at an Upper West Side high school were injured Thursday, one seriously and the other slightly, in an explosion during a chemistry class just after 9 a.m. They were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center. Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina, on her first day on the job, said she spoke to both sets of parents.
