A shoplifting suspect whose arrest sparked a brief panic at a Long Island mall, when the sound of a display case falling was mistaken for gunfire, was released Thursday without bail, Newsday reported. Aaron Darby, 19, is due back in court Jan. 7 for a petty larceny charge.
