De Blasio Gives Away 1,000 Inauguration Tickets

NEW YORK -

At 12:36 Thursday afternoon, Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s transition team sent out an email announcing they were giving away 1,000 tickets to members of the public to attend his swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 1 on a first-come, first-served basis. Two hours later, at 2:39 p.m., they tweeted that all the tickets were sold out. De Blasio will greet attendees following the swearing in, and four days later at an open house at Gracie Mansion.
